Kathleen Hartsfield Spicer is equal parts jock and nerd. She could be considered a creative, waiting for her next big break, but that consideration would be limited in scope. Her humor oscillates between painfully obvious and so dry you’ll require electrolytes. Above all else, she values cultivating bonds with her fellows.
For my project, I wanted to host an aesthetic, gastronomic experience rendered absurd by the food served. To translate this to Twitch, I invited a group to attend this dinner party and be part of a short film.
The foods were made to elicit laughter, confusion, discomfort, and perhaps even awkwardness. This included serving boiled eggs with one hidden raw egg, dyeing an otherwise normal cake blue and giving it a disgusting name, disguising smoked trout dip and cornbread as a cake with strawberry frosting, and attempting such culinary techniques as reverse spherification to make something resembling trout roe. These dishes were made complete when my guests reacted to and consumed them.
Please enjoy the encapsulation of this experience in the form of a short-form phone film.
