AGREEMENT TO PROHIBIT COMEDIC EXPRESSION
THIS AGREEMENT (the "Agreement") is made effective as of by and between the undersigned parties (collectively, the "Participants").
WHEREAS, the Participants wish to establish binding restrictions on the practice and performance of comedy in all its forms;
NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covenants contained herein, the Participants agree as follows:
1. DEFINITIONS
1.1. "Comedy" shall mean any intentional attempt to provoke laughter, amusement, or entertainment through the following enumerated forms:
1.2. "Stand-up Comedy" shall mean the theatrical presentation of comedic material by a single performer before a live audience, including but not limited to:
- Observational comedy regarding daily life
- Social commentary through humorous lens
- Personal anecdotes delivered for comedic effect
- Character-based performances
- Crowd interaction and improvised responses
- One-liners and quick jokes
- Physical comedy within the stand-up format
1.3. "Sketch Comedy" shall mean short, scripted comedic scenes, including but not limited to:
- Character-based sketches
- Parody and satire
- Situation comedy sketches
- Recurring characters or scenarios
- Musical comedy sketches
- Political satire sketches
- Social commentary sketches
1.4. "Improvisational Comedy" shall mean unscripted comedic performances, including but not limited to:
- Short-form improvisation games
- Long-form improvisation scenes
- Musical improvisation
- Character improvisation
- Scene-based improvisation
- Audience suggestion-based improvisation
1.5. "Written Comedy" shall mean comedic expression in written form, including but not limited to:
- Humorous essays
- Satirical articles
- Comedy screenplays
- Comedic stage plays
- Humorous literature
- Comic strips and cartoons
- Comedic social media posts
1.6. "Physical Comedy" shall mean comedy primarily expressed through movement, including but not limited to:
- Slapstick
- Mime
- Clowning
- Pratfalls
- Visual gags
- Facial expressions
- Gesture-based humor
1.7. "Verbal Comedy" shall mean comedy primarily expressed through wordplay, including but not limited to:
- Puns
- Double entendres
- Malapropisms
- Spoonerisms
- Word association humor
- Rhyming jokes
- Linguistic humor
2. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES
2.1. All Participants hereby agree to refrain from engaging in, performing, writing, recording, or otherwise creating any form of comedy as defined in Section 1.
2.2. Specific prohibitions include, but are not limited to:
- Professional comedy performance
- Amateur comedy performance
- Comedy writing
- Comedy recording
- Comedy publication
- Comedy instruction
- Comedy promotion
2.3. Undersigned agrees to maintain confidentiality regarding embarrassing, personal, or criminal matters disclosed in this unique internet space, including but not limited to:
- Personal information that may cause embarrassment or distress if revealed
- Sensitive content shared in confidence by other participants
- Discussions that may potentially violate conventional norms
3. EXCEPTIONS
3.1. This Agreement shall not prohibit:
- Unintentional humor arising from genuine mistakes or circumstances
- Factual statements that others may find amusing without comedic intent
- Professional obligations requiring serious discussion of comedy in academic or analytical contexts
4. VIOLATION REMEDIES AND ENFORCEMENT
4.1. Any violation of this Agreement shall constitute a material breach.
4.2. "Chuckle Bucks"
shall be the official currency for compensating violations of this Agreement. Participants may purchase Chuckle Bucks at any time at a rate of one dollar ($1.00 USD) per one (1) Chuckle Buck. All Chuckle Bucks collected shall be directed to a charitable cause determined by unanimous agreement of the Participants.
4.3. For each violation, the breaching party may choose between payment in Chuckle Bucks or injunctive relief according to the following schedule:
4.4. First Tier Violations (Violations 1-5):
- Chuckle Bucks: Fifty cents ($.50) in Chuckle Bucks per violation
- - OR -
- Injunctive: Choice of:
- Attendance at one (1) local zoning board meeting
- Forty-five (45) minutes of listening to educational podcasts about soil composition
- Reading one (1) academic paper about concrete curing techniques and providing a 300-word summary
4.5. Second Tier Violations (Violations 6-10):
- Chuckle Bucks: One dollar ($1.00) in Chuckle Bucks per violation
- - OR -
- Injunctive: Choice of:
- Provide a detailed 1000-word critique of your cell phone company's hold music
- Creation of a detailed spreadsheet documenting all local parking meter locations including operational hours and fee structures
- Three (3) hours of organizing office supplies by size, color, and country of manufacture
4.6. Third Tier Violations (Violations 11-15):
- Chuckle Bucks: Five dollars ($5.00) in Chuckle Bucks per violation
- - OR -
- Injunctive: Choice of:
- Two-week "humor purge journal" documenting and renouncing all instances of laughter
- Spending three (3) consecutive days practicing "joy aversion therapy" by watching formerly favorite comedy films while applying a bitter substance to the tongue whenever smiling occurs
- Creation and presentation of a 45-minute PowerPoint about different types of paint drying with at least 75 slides
- Hand-count and categorize all ceiling tiles in a local government building while wearing uncomfortable formal attire
4.7. Fourth Tier Violations (Violations 16+):
- Chuckle Bucks: Ten dollars ($10.00) in Chuckle Bucks per violation
- - OR -
- Injunctive: Choice of:
- Thirty-day "Humor Abstinence Program" with electric shock device activated by detected laughter
- Memorization and public recitation of the first 100 pages of a telephone directory from 1983
- Enrollment in an intensive "Anti-Joy Conditioning Program" requiring participants to listen to recordings of audience laughter while viewing images of tragic historical events
- Detailed documentation of all squirrel movements in a public park from sunrise to sunset for three (3) consecutive days while wearing a wool sweater regardless of weather conditions
5. TERM AND TERMINATION
5.1. This Agreement shall remain in effect until terminated by written agreement of all Participants.
